Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, condemned on the social network X the genocide perpetrated by Israel against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
In his message, the president stated: “More than 100,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, by bombs, hunger, and illnesses without medical care.”
The Cuban leader also emphasized in his post that “because of them and because of large popular protests, several governments finally recognize Palestine as a state, but the genocide continues. Israel must be condemned.”
Díaz-Canel condemns genocide and demands recognition for Palestine
According to the UN Independent International Commission on the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Israel has been committing genocidal acts in Gaza since October 2023, including mass murders, systematic destruction of civilian infrastructure, the use of starvation as a weapon of war, and attacks on medical and humanitarian personnel.
The death toll, the source confirms, exceeds 65,000 dead, with more than 1.9 million displaced, and the almost total devastation of the healthcare and education systems.
National sources confirm that Cuba has repeatedly denounced the genocide in Gaza before international organizations and emphasize that Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, recently demanded a just and lasting solution to the conflict, based on the creation of two states and respect for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.
