Havana, May 29 (RHC) – The Houston Astros defeated the Texas Rangers 5-1 and are now only 2.5 games behind the Seattle Mariners, leaders of the American League West in MLB.
On Thursday, Jeremy Peña and Isaac Paredes each hit home runs for Houston, while Spencer Arrighetti delivered a quality start, earning the win (6.0 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 3 K, 1 BB) and lowering his ERA to 1.34 for the season.
In the only division in the current Major League Baseball season where all teams have a losing record, the Astros improved to 26-32 after winning three of their four games against their in-state rivals and going 7-3 in their last ten games.
Also on Thursday, the Angels defeated the Tigers 7-1, the White Sox beat the Twins 6-2, the Braves routed the Red Sox 10-2, the Blue Jays edged the Orioles 2-1, and the Cubs defeated the Pirates 7-2.
