Havana, May 24 (RHC) – Barcelona beat OL Lyonnes 4-0 at the Ullevaal Stadion in the capital, winning their fourth Women’s Champions League title, propelled by a brace from Ewa Pajor.
The Polish striker made her mark in this final with two clinical strikes, bringing her tally to 11 goals in the competition and cementing her status as the top scorer in a Barcelona-dominated edition.
Salma Paralluelo added the finishing touch to the Catalan victory with a pair of stunning goals in the dying minutes, completing the rout and sending the stadium into raptures.
In a rematch of the 2023-24 final, also decided by a 2-0 win at San Mamés, the Catalan side once again imposed their style of control, precision, and ruthlessness against the tournament’s historic giant.
Pere Romeu’s team thus completed a circle of redemption after last season’s defeat to Arsenal, while reaffirming their domestic dominance already cemented with the league title and the recent 3-1 Copa de la Reina victory over Atlético de Madrid.
Their continental run was near perfect, topping the league group, securing direct entry to the quarterfinals, defeating Real Madrid 12-2 on aggregate, and enduring a hard-fought 5-3 victory over Bayern Munich in the semifinals.
On the other side, Lyon arrived with the ambition of reclaiming a title they haven’t held since 2022, following a solid run that included a 4-1 aggregate win against Wolfsburg and a thrilling comeback against Arsenal in the semifinals.
The French side, further boosted by their resounding 8-0 victory over Nantes in the league playoffs and a thrashing of PSG in the Cup, were unable, however, to unlock the competitive edge of a Barcelona team that knew how to both withstand pressure and strike.
The title allowed the Blaugrana to equal Eintracht Frankfurt’s record of four crowns and solidify their position as the second most successful club in the competition’s history, second only to Lyon.
