Cuba condemns recent extension of Washington’s blockade

by Ed Newman

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez on Tuesday condemned the one-year extension of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States on the island.

On social media, Rodríguez described the blockade as a genocidal policy that has been maintained against our people for more than six decades and emphasized that Cuba is not a threat, but the blockade is.

“The renewal of the so-called Trading with the Enemy Act until September 2027 is not a minor administrative act, but rather confirmation that Washington persists in its aim to suffocate an entire nation.”

The top Cuban diplomat also noted that the extension comes at the most brutal moment of the U.S. offensive against Cuba in recent years.
