Ambassador Tania López Larroque, Permanent Representative of Cuba to the International Seabed Authority (ISA), participated in the 31st Session of the Assembly of this international body of the United Nations in Kingston, Jamaica.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website, Cubaminrex, in her presentation, the diplomat reaffirmed Cuba’s commitment to the principles of cooperation, equity, and sustainability that govern the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea and the work of the ISA.
López Larroque emphasized that the oceans are a source of life and resources, as well as spaces of sovereignty and identity for peoples.
The representative denounced the impact of unilateral measures on global efforts to achieve a better future, and described the effects of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade, the smear campaigns, and the energy embargo imposed by the United States government against Cuba.
The 31st Session of the IAF (International Association of World Economic Forums) was held in Kingston from July 27th to the 31th, with the participation of delegations from member states.
