Israeli forces have ordered dozens of Palestinian families in southern Gaza to evacuate their homes as the regime’s military expands the area under its control — in a clear and flagrant violation of the so-called “peace deal” brokered by the wheeler-dealer himself: U.S. President Donald Trump.
Residents of Bani Suhaila, east of Khan Yunis, said Israeli forces dropped leaflets warning families in tent encampments in the al-Reqeb neighborhood to leave immediately.
“Urgent message. The area is under Israeli military control. You must evacuate immediately,” read the notice.
Ismail Al-Thawabta, director of the Gaza government media office, said the new evacuation orders affect approximately 3,000 people.
Thawabta said that the Israeli military has expanded its control in eastern Khan Yunis five times since the ceasefire, displacing at least 9,000 people.
Local residents confirmed the evacuation orders affected dozens of families living in both tents and homes.
“We have fled the area and relocated westward. It is maybe the fourth or fifth time the occupation expanded the yellow line since last month,” said Mahmoud, a Bani Suhaila resident, referring to the line marking the edge of Israeli withdrawal.
“Each time, they move it about 120 to 150 meters deeper into Palestinian-controlled territory, swallowing more land,” he added.
Over the past two years, Israel has dropped leaflets over areas that were later raided or bombarded, forcing families to relocate multiple times.
The October ceasefire has stalled at its first phase, with Israel failing to honor the agreement by withdrawing from less than half of Gaza, while Hamas released Israeli captives in exchange for Palestinian prisoners.
Almost the entire population of more than 2 million people remains confined to roughly a third of Gaza’s territory, living mostly in makeshift tents and damaged buildings.
Despite the ceasefire, the Israeli military has continued airstrikes and attacks across the territory.
Since the launch of Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, over 71,500 Palestinians have been killed and more than 172,000 wounded, the vast majority women and children.
More than 460 Palestinians have reportedly been killed since the ceasefire took effect over three months ago.
