The Freedom Flotilla to Gaza has announced that it is preparing a new mission to “break the blockade and denounce the genocide suffered by the Palestinian people.”
In fact, the group, now comprised of a dozen crew members, stated at a press conference from the vessel docked in Bilbao that it will depart this Tuesday on a voyage to recruit new members to the initiative.
“We sail to pressure our governments, which are the ones who have the tools to stop Israel,” echoing the “global outcry,” they commented.
The Freedom Flotilla will actually deploy to Gaza in October, and once again, they will assume the risk of further arrests and violence by Israel, as has happened previously.
The vessel arrived last Saturday in Bizkaia, where it received a warm welcome and took the opportunity to announce several activities, including a cycling event and a conference. and a concert.
This Tuesday, they will set sail for Vigo, Galicia, at the start of a journey they hope to complete in October, with the aim of gathering support along the way in different ports.
American Elisabeth Murray, one of the members of the Flotilla, accompanied by Frank Romano and Sandra Barrilaro, Ana Cascón, a collaborator of the Freedom Flotilla, and Aintzane Cámara, representative of Ongi Etorri Errefuxiatuak (Welcome Refugees) in the Basque Country, spoke to reporters.
Since 2010, and almost every year without interruption, the Freedom Flotilla has undertaken its voyages to “denounce and break the illegal blockade of Gaza,” which is “a collective punishment of an entire population, more than two million people currently in Gaza.”
Barrilero emphasized the necessity of this initiative, which, she stressed, is not “a humanitarian mission,” but rather seeks to “break and denounce the blockade of Gaza, the decades-long occupation of Palestine, and the ethnic cleansing being carried out against the Palestinian population.”

It’s a disgrace that the civilian population has been taking to the streets for three years and carrying out countless actions to demand that our governments stop Israel, and they are not doing anything.”
