September will mark eight months since Cuba began suffering an oil blockade imposed by the genocidal US regime. Since then, only one Russian tanker unloaded oil on the island last April. Obviously, this is clearly insufficient. The social and economic consequences of the siege imposed on Cuba by the United States and its American and European henchmen, as well as the inaction of the so-called international community, which looks the other way, are catastrophic.
A silent genocide is taking place that should be denounced daily. This time, the genocidal US regime has not bombed or invaded Cuba. There are no tanks or planes massacring and exterminating the civilian population as its protégé, the equally genocidal and colonial Zionist regime, does in Palestine. Their strategy, however, is more insidious. The genocidal US regime is trying to turn Cuba into a vast concentration camp, emulating and surpassing what Zionism is doing in Palestine.
Since the genocidal US regime intensified this year the criminal economic, commercial, and financial blockade that Cuba has suffered for more than 60 years, life on the island is becoming unbearable. The current situation should not be romanticized by speaking of the heroism of the Cuban people, who resist the genocidal onslaught of their imperialist neighbor by “resolving,” as Cubans say, in order to continue another day.
The US regime is tightening the noose around the neck of the Cuban people to the maximum. The US regime’s Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, has just stated that they will not only continue to maintain the pressure, but also affirmed that “every time they create a new mechanism to try to get out of the noose, we simply close it.” And these are the ones they sell us as the champions of freedom, democracy, and human rights.
That noose they promise to tighten more and more means that hospitals lack the energy to keep thousands of sick people alive; there is no fuel for transporting food or people; the population suffers prolonged power outages, which translates, among other things, into not having direct access to drinking water for days. Likewise, the genocidal noose has crippled the economic resources of a country subjected to economic warfare for decades. And yet, despite months without a single drop of oil entering the country, the genocidal US imperialism has still not managed to subdue the Cuban people.
Cuba was the first nation to suffer in concentration camps at the hands of Spanish imperialism. Now, as the putative father of the genocidal Zionism that turned Gaza into the largest open-air concentration camp, the genocidal US regime intends to create the largest concentration camp in the history of humanity, where millions of people are, once again, abandoned to their fate. Zionism has a policy of extermination to eliminate the Palestinian population and colonize the territory; the genocidal US regime intends to turn Cuba into a Gaza 2.0.
