Members of the Italian movement “Ruta a Cuba” (Route to Cuba) delivered a shipment of solidarity aid — consisting of school supplies — to an educational institution in Havana.
At the handover ceremony, Luis Góngora, principal of the Arturo Montori elementary school, expressed gratitude for the gesture on behalf of the institution’s staff and the students’ parents.
In his remarks, Góngora highlighted the importance of this aid in strengthening the school’s educational process.
Nicoleta Griego, a representative of the Italian General Confederation of Labour (CGIL), speaking on behalf of the caravan members, emphasized the Italian people’s willingness to continue delivering humanitarian aid to the Caribbean nation, particularly as sanctions imposed by the United States have intensified since January.

In exclusive statements to Prensa Latina, Griego criticized the stance taken by her country’s current government toward Havana.
“We currently have a right-wing government in Italy that answers to the interests of the United States,” she asserted.
She noted that one of the objectives is to pressure the government to adopt a stance condemning the blockade.
The aid collected by “Ruta a Cuba” will also be delivered to the Calixto García Clinical-Surgical Teaching Hospital and other institutions in the capital.
