Overwhelming victory for Cuba at UN General Assembly

by Ed Newman

The vote on the resolution before the UN General Assembly — calling for an end to the U.S. blockade of Cuba — represented an overwhelming victory for Cuba!

After debates on Tuesday and today, Wednesday, the vote was taken:

130 countries voted in favor of ending the U.S. blockade, 17 countries voted against (in effect, voting for maintaining Washington’s blockade of Cuba) and 25 nations abstained.
