By purchasing a collectible sticker for 25 pesos — the equivalent of one liter of fuel — President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo has joined a fundraising campaign led by the Anti-Fascist Cultural League (LCA) to send 40,000 liters of gasoline to Cuba.
The LCA is a group composed of artists, writers, cartoonists, and journalists. According to its website, the group’s organizers include writer Paco Ignacio Taibo II, director of the *Fondo de Cultura Económica* (FCE); filmmaker Sergio Arau; actors Damián Alcázar and Jesús Ochoa; and writer Elena Poniatowska.
The organization shared a photograph on Facebook showing the President holding the sticker she purchased for the campaign. Beside her are Taibo II and a third individual holding a red fuel canister labeled: “1 liter of gasoline for Cuba. LCA.”
“We welcome and deeply value the donation made by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo to the ‘A Liter of Gasoline for Cuba’ campaign; she has consistently aligned herself with the collective goal of sending 40,000 liters of fuel to our sister nation,” the organization stated.
In its message, the group asserted that “the criminal energy and economic blockade imposed by the United States seeks to suffocate a dignified people—a people who refuse to surrender and who have demonstrated that another, more just world is possible.” He recalled a teaching from General Lázaro Cárdenas: “The defense of Cuba is not separate from the defense of Mexico; in Cuba, the sovereignty of all ‘Our America’ is being defended.”
The Cuban Embassy in Mexico shared the announcement on its X account, noting that the organization reported that the leader “made a donation to the solidarity campaign.”
According to the campaign details, the stickers can be purchased at FCE bookstores in Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey. Each one represents a solidarity contribution of 25 pesos, equivalent to one liter of gasoline for Cuba. “Every liter counts toward defending the lives and sovereignty of our peoples!” the organization stated, calling on the public to join in and replicate the effort.
