Solidarity Day with Cuba in Milan, Italy

by Ed Newman

A Solidarity Day with Cuba is being held on Monday in Milan, denouncing the criminal economic blockade and threats of aggression by the United States against that country.

The event takes place in the Piazza 24 Maio in Milan, the capital of the northern region of Lombardy, under the slogan “Cuba is under attack. Let’s defend it! No to US aggression,” according to a statement from the organizers.

The initiative was spearheaded by Milano Solidale con Cuba, a solidarity alliance with the Caribbean nation comprised of various friendship associations with Cuba, unions, left-wing youth groups, political parties, and Cuban community groups residing in Italy, with the aim of providing political and humanitarian support to the country.

During the event, an exhibition of paintings by Cuban artists and Uruguayan designer Esteban Isnardi, based in Switzerland, is being displayed. A collection of funds, medicines, and essential goods is also being taken up to help alleviate the consequences of the genocidal measures imposed by the United States against the island.

The event provides information on the effects of the criminal economic, commercial, and financial blockade that the United States has maintained for over 60 years, a violation of human rights, and will present new initiatives aimed at strengthening international support for the Cuban people, the source added.
