U.S. economic coercion blocks oil from entering Cuba

by Ed Newman

Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs, has affirmed that the economic coercion of the United States to third countries to prevent the supply of oil to Cuba is a blockade that does not require military means.

Bruno Rodríguez recalled Executive Order 14380 of January 29, 2026, which authorized the imposition of punitive tariffs against imports from countries that, directly or indirectly, supply oil to Cuba.

Any nation that sovereignly trades oil with our country is threatened with commercial retaliation in the US market, he explained.

The head of Cuban diplomacy pointed out that this provision was designed by Rubio himself, who also highlighted his ability to lie.

He stressed that in this way military means are not necessary off the Cuban coast, since the United States manages to impose its objective through the harshest pressure and blackmail.
