Havana, Jun 16 (RHC) - Diorges Escobar was in charge of placing Cuba in the medalist list of the Pan American Artistic Gymnastics Championship of Panama 2025.
Ratified as the main figure of the Island, Diorges shined in the floor exercise to get a bronze medal that many of those who followed the competition consider that it should have had a better color.
He completed a score of 13.633 points and escorted on the podium the American Junnosuke Iwai (14.033), medalist in World Cups, and the experienced Guatemalan Jorge Vega (13.800), who was champion in this event at the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games.
Diorges received the best score for execution among the eight finalists (8.433), although the difficulty of his program is better. Six months ago, the leader of the Cuban team underwent shoulder surgery, which is why he only competed in four of the six apparatuses that make up this discipline.
However, he reached the finals in three of them. In addition to floor, he was in the medal discussion in parallel bars and fixed beam.
In the latter, he finished sixth with 11.567 units and in the parallel bars he finished in fourth place with 13.500.
