Beach wrestling

Havana, May 13 (JIT) - For the first time in history, four Cubans competed in an international beach wrestling event, this time in Monterrey, Mexico.

This event is considered the World Series of this dynamic modality, and the balance was bordering the limits of excellence, as it was seven victories without defeats, with a score of 19 points scored and none against.

In beach wrestling, the divisions are different from traditional wrestling and the bouts end when one of the two contenders accumulates only three points. It is a fight in which anything is allowed and there is no delimitation between Greco-Roman and free styles.

Yainelis Sanz (60 kg) won two fights, both 3-0 against Josefina Ramirez (Mexico) and Adrianni Castillo (Agentina), while Havana's Milaimis Marin (+70 kg) defeated Greece's Estefania Zacheila 3-0.

In addition, Oscar Pino (+90 kg), also from Havana, defeated Ricardo Baez (Argentina) 3-0 and Fatih Yasarli (Türkiye) 1-0.

Finally, San Juan's Geannis Garzon Jr. (80 kg) won his two bouts 3-0 against Georgian Nika Kontadchadze and French Fabien Cuenot.

The gold medals will be decided this Tuesday.
