Cycling Grand Prix

Havana, Jun 11 (RHC) - Eryk González and Roberto Díaz won gold and silver medals, in the masters categories of the Punta Cana 2025 Cycling Grand Prix, in the Dominican Republic.

González took the crown in master C (50-59 years old) in the general classification with 47 units, thanks to two second places and a fourth in the three stages disputed in this traditional race.

In the intermediate sprints department he placed third with six points, a prize in which his brother Eridán was sub-leader with eight and overall he finished sixth with 27.

Díaz was runner-up in the master B group (40-49) with 35 points in the overall and 12 in the sprints award in a race that consisted of 165 kilometers in the three stages for the masters.

Ramón Arteaga, technical director of the Cuba-Castrol team, commented to JIT the good impression left by its members, due to their good physical shape, as well as the discipline and combativeness shown.

In this Grand Prix the categories A, B, and C of veterans in both sexes, as well as the elite, premaster and recreational categories are called.

"In fact, we are already invited for next year, and with more participants and categories, depending on the possibilities of our runners, who self-finance their transportation," he said.

In the country there is a strong movement of masters, in cycling and mountain biking, who participate in different events organized in the capital and in other provinces, which contributes to the promotion of these modalities and to the progress of the new generations.
