Havana, Jun 5 (RHC) - This Friday, Cuban triple jumpers Liadagmis Povera and Leyanis Pérez will make their debut in the 2025 Diamond League at the Golden Gala Pietro Mennea, in Rome.

Although they arrive with a disadvantage -as they were not present in Doha, last May 16- Leyanis and Povea are favorites to dispute the prizes and get their first points for the ranking of the circuit.

In the Eternal City they will face Jamaican Shanieka Ricketts, winner in the Qatari city with 14.72 meters, and Dominican Thea Lafond, Olympic champion in Paris 2024 and second in the aforementioned stop with 14.39 meters.

Leyanis has no jumps registered in the outdoor season ranking, since in the only national competition she attended in Havana she preferred to test herself in the long jump.

Povea will not have to face this first moment of the year with pressure either. She arrives in Rome with 14.38m scored on the 23rd at the Pan American Stadium and, as usual, she is expected to start her international career with a good record.

Also registered for Rome are France's Illionis Guillaume, third in Doha, Spain's Ana Peleteiro-Compaoré, Romania's Ana Maria Ion, Slovenia's Neja Filipic, and USA's Jasmine Moore.
