10th PCC Plenary Session Begins
At the beginning of the meeting, PCC Organization Secretary Roberto Morales addressed the complex situation facing the Caribbean country, marked by the intensification of the blockade imposed by the United States, economic difficulties, and external pressures.
Morales pointed out that although these coercive measures seek to break the spirit of the Cuban people, they continually demonstrate their resilience and dignity, according to the Presidency of the Republic on the social media platform X.
The party leader expressed that "scarcity, limitations, and attempts to discourage us are knocking on doors and consciences." Amid these adversities, he said, "every day becomes a challenge."
Referring to the importance of the 10th plenary session, he affirmed that this meeting is vitally important, as the PCC is the force and compass that guides us toward collective well-being and is responsible for ensuring that the needs of the people are met.
"Let's analyze the problems in depth; let's define the actions that will bring them closer to solving them; and let's compel the mobilization of the nation toward achieving results," he emphasized.
During this first day of the party meeting, the new proposals for co-optation as members of the highest leadership structure of the political organization were presented.
The new members unanimously approved are: Major General Raúl Villar, head of the Central Army; Brigadier General Oscar A. Callejas, head of the Political Directorate of the Ministry of the Interior; and Magda Resik, first vice president of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba.
