A humanitarian aid shipment of 30 tons of powdered milk, sent by the Federative Republic of Brazil, arrived at the Antonio Maceo International Airport in Santiago de Cuba, destined to contribute to the care of the Cuban population.
Manuel Falcón Hernández, governor, and Madelaine Cortés Barquilla, provincial director of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, received the donation this Tuesday at the airport terminal, where they thanked, on behalf of the Cuban government and people, the South American nation for its solidarity.
Lieutenant Colonel Leonardo Sigolo, commander of the Brazilian Air Force Airbus A330, expressed the crew’s satisfaction at participating in the transport of the humanitarian cargo destined for the Caribbean island.
He noted that the aircraft took off from the city of Porto Alegre at the request of the Brazilian government and, after a flight of seven hours and 15 minutes, landed in this southeastern province with the first 30 tons of powdered milk.
Workers from the Cuban Airport and Airport Services Company (ECASA), along with personnel from the Dairy Products Company of Santiago de Cuba and the Brazilian crew, participated in unloading the donation to expedite its transport and subsequent distribution.
It was reported that another 14 tons of the same product are scheduled to arrive this Wednesday, as part of the humanitarian aid sent by Brazil amidst the intensification of the United States’ economic, commercial, financial, and energy blockade against Cuba.
