by Ed Newman

Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo reiterated on Tuesday Cuba’s commitment to a Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States and the European Union (CELAC-EU) that reflects the shared visions of both regions on issues of interest on the current international agenda and on the future of bi-regional relations.

The National Coordinator to CELAC also led the Cuban delegation at the XIX Meeting of National Coordinators, as a prelude to the Summit scheduled for November 9 and 10 in Santa Marta, Colombia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported on its website.

The Deputy Minister emphasized the need to focus on issues of vital importance to the region, such as the commitment to the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace, the rejection of unilateral coercive measures, and South-South cooperation.

The 19th Meeting of National Coordinators is a key forum for advancing negotiations on the documents that will be presented during the 4th CELAC-EU Summit.

The Cuban delegation also includes Juan Antonio Quintanilla Román, Director General of Multilateral Affairs and International Law; Ileana Núñez Mordoche, Director for Europe and Canada; and other directors and officials from the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
