Óscar Pérez-Oliva, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment of Cuba, has developed intense agendas this week at the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum, with bilateral meetings and participation in thematic panels, the Cuban Foreign Ministry reported from its profile on the social network Facebook.

Pérez-Oliva met with Alexander Beglov, governor of Saint Petersburg, who ratified solidarity and commitment to strengthen cooperation with Cuba in education, health, culture and trade.

The Cuban leader spoke with Daniiar Imanaliev, Minister of Integration and Macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Commission, about the implementation of the Cuba-UEAS Cooperation Action Plan 2026-2030.

In the panel “Russia and Latin America”, Pérez-Oliva denounced the policy of economic, commercial and financial war, and the energy siege imposed by the United States against Cuba, and highlighted the importance of regional cooperation.

During the Cuba-Russia Business Dialogue, investment opportunities in tourism, biotechnology, biopharmaceutical industry and health were presented, with broad business participation.

Russian authorities reiterated their political, diplomatic and material support for Cuba, as well as the joint defense of the sovereignty of both countries.

At the State University of Saint Petersburg, tribute was paid to the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz in the context of the centenary of his birth, with the participation of Cuban students studying at that institution.

The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, founded in 1997 and organized by the Roscongress Foundation, constitutes a reference platform for the analysis of the world economy and the promotion of investment projects.

It is held every year at the ExpoForum Center and brings together more than 10,000 delegates from more than 120 countries.

The sessions address strategic topics such as energy, technological innovation, international trade, sustainable development and multipolar cooperation, consolidating itself as an articulation space for countries in the Global South.
