The high priority that Cuba and Vietnam place on bilateral relations marked the meeting and talks between the foreign ministers of both countries, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla and Le Hoai Trung, respectively, as part of the official visit that the high-ranking Asian dignitary has been making to the Caribbean nation since last Saturday.
During the reception, held in the “El Laguito” Protocol Hall, the Vietnamese Foreign Minister, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, reaffirmed to his counterpart the close historical ties that unite both peoples and governments.
The Cuban Foreign Minister expressed his gratitude for Vietnam’s historic stance on the international stage against the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States government, and for the numerous expressions of solidarity with the archipelago and its rejection of the recent aggressive escalation and energy blockade implemented by Washington.
As we approach the 66th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in December, this visit enriches the traditional friendship between the two countries and peoples, founded on the example and legacy of their leaders, Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz and Ho Chi Minh, he added.
Meanwhile, Le Hoai Trung praised the strategic nature of the ties his nation maintains with Havana, citing them as an example of relations built on respect and collaboration.
The member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and special envoy of To Lam, General Secretary of that organization and President of Vietnam, highlighted the sister nation’s willingness to continue expanding cooperation and the close bond that unites both countries, regardless of geographical distance.
From the archipelago, they admire the feats of the brotherly Vietnamese people in their struggle against imperialism and especially value the support of the Asian territory in the island’s confrontation with Washington’s hostility.
Both states are developing cooperation initiatives in sectors such as food security, biotechnology, the biopharmaceutical sector, health, education, science and technology, construction, and renewable energy.
During his stay, the top Vietnamese diplomat — who has visited the country previously in other capacities — will update the Cuban Communist Party authorities on the results of the 14th Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam held last January.
Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, and other officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with members of the Vietnamese visiting delegation, accompanied the meeting.
