A delegation from several Indian social organizations traveled to Cuba with a donation of medicines for the Caribbean nation’s cardiovascular and oncology hospitals, according to diplomatic sources.
The second secretary of the Cuban mission in the South Asian country, Guadalupe Frómeta, bid farewell to the friends from the largest of the Antilles, who also represent the history of solidarity and brotherhood between the two peoples, dating back almost to the very beginning of the Cuban Revolution in 1959.
A campaign remains active in India to collect aid for the Caribbean nation and to honor the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, in the year of his centennial.
As part of this, from August 13 to November 25, activities will take place in several states of the South Asian country, including a photo exhibition of Fidel Castro, as well as cultural and sporting events.
Specifically, on Wednesday, August 12, Ambassador Juan Carlos Marsán will deliver a lecture in Delhi entitled “Cuba and its Historical Challenge on the Centenary of Fidel Castro’s Birth.”
On August 13, the Tamil Nadu Chapter of the National Committee of Solidarity with Cuba will hold a major event in Chennai in support of the Caribbean nation, featuring a photo exhibition of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, book presentations, and cultural events.
Also, on August 16, a one-day conference entitled “100 Years of Fidel: In the Battle for Peace” will be held in Bangalore to highlight his leadership of formerly colonized peoples and the Non-Aligned Movement.
The day will include a panel discussion, film screenings, poetry readings, and cultural performances.
The campaign will continue throughout the year with commemorations of Ernesto Che Guevara in October and in January to celebrate the triumph of the Cuban Revolution.
