Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, highlighted this Thursday on his Facebook profile the presentation of the book “The Fruit That Didn’t Fall,” a historical investigation by René González Barrios, director of the Fidel Castro Ruz Center.
Morales Ojeda described the text as a solid demonstration of the imperialist plans to seize Cuba and highly recommended it.
“A brilliant, solid, and indisputable historical investigation, where the murky imperialist plans to seize Cuba are expressly demonstrated. A text I recommend to everyone,” he wrote.
He recalled that the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, in his speech of October 10, 1968, accurately described the events of the U.S. intervention in the war of independence.
“And we all know how the events unfolded. How, when Spain’s power was virtually exhausted, driven by purely imperialist ambitions, the United States government participated in the war, after 30 years of struggle,” he quoted.
In that message, Fidel recounted that the Mambí soldiers landed alongside U.S. troops, but were prevented from entering Santiago de Cuba, while the Revolutionary Government in Arms and its leaders were ignored.
Morales Ojeda reproduced the passage in which Fidel pointed out that the United States discussed the matter directly with Spain without Cuban participation and decided on military intervention, which resulted in the political and military occupation of the country.
These statements come in the context of threats and genocide by the United States against Cuba with the intention of repeating history, and justifying new aggressions through old arguments of domination.
