Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez denounced on Friday a pseudoscientific report by the Harvard Working Group on Cuba, considering it part of the U.S. State Department’s propaganda campaign against the island.
Through his account on the social network X, the foreign minister stated that the document incorporates sectors with marked ideological biases and clear monetary interests into the psychological warfare against the Cuban people, which calls into question the prestige and scientific rigor of that renowned U.S. university.
Bruno Rodríguez emphasized that the text intentionally conceals the consequences of almost 70 years of economic strangulation, commercial and financial persecution, and the imposition of fear on those who trade and invest on the island.
The foreign minister specified that the report fails to acknowledge the damages caused by the blockade between March 1, 2025, and February 28, 2026, which amounted to $8.0833 billion, a record figure and 7 percent higher than the previous year.
It also fails to mention the accumulated damages caused by the blockade, which reach $178.75 billion at current prices, nor that, without this policy, Cuba’s Gross Domestic Product in 2025 would have been 10.8 percent higher than the estimated value.
The head of Cuban diplomacy further denounced that the pseudo-report omits the persecution and the closure of any “escape valve” explicitly declared by the United States Secretary of State, measures that limit economic recovery and the provision of essential services, with the purpose of creating a humanitarian crisis.
Bruno Rodríguez pointed out that more than 50 percent of the document focuses on criticisms and political recommendations aligned with the American discourse, which demonstrates its intention to confuse and manipulate the American and international public.
