The Secretary of Organization of the Communist Party of Cuba, Roberto Morales, today thanked the repeated international solidarity received by his country in the face of the unprecedented, intensified hostility of the United States blockade.
The Cuban Communist party leader valued the recognition of the largest island of the Antilles and accompanied his message under the hashtags, #CubaNoEsUnaMenaza, the blockade is, and, #CubaNotEstaSola.”
“Thank you for the solidarity!”, responded the deputy and member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba.
On September 12 and 13, the BRICS group during the summit in New Delhi expressed in the official statement its concern about the situation in Cuba, due to the United States blockade against the island and insisted on the need to end it.
The group recognized the measures of the hostile US policy and “its adverse effects on the Cuban economy, energy supplies and the worrying impact.”
Likewise, a week earlier, Cuba achieved a resounding victory at the Human Rights Council in Geneva when delegations from all continents intervened in the debate on the impact of the US blockade on the human rights of the Cuban people.
They all supported the opinion of the Council’s special rapporteur on Unilateral Coercive Measures, Alena Douhan: the blockade of Cuba must end, because it is illegal, causes enormous damage and violates the human rights of all Cubans.
Not a single nation on the Council defended the criminal conduct of the United States. They all asked for an end to their siege against Cuba.
On the other hand, demonstrations of solidarity with the largest of the Antilles take place in several capitals and cities in Europe and other continents.
On October 27 and 28, Cuba will present the report on the impacts of the United States siege against the island before the National General Assembly of the United Nations.
The document titled “Need to end the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba” will be submitted to debate and vote by the member states.
“Despite the extraordinary pressure and intimidation of the United States on the member states, Cuba trusts in the overwhelming support for the demand that the blockade be ended in the vote that will take place on Wednesday, October 28,” said Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez, who is already at the United Nations headquarters.
