“The Cuban people pledge to remain a beacon of hope in the Caribbean, for all those who believe the world must be better. We will not falter,” affirmed Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, President of the Republic, on Saturday at the closing of the International Event of Solidarity with Cuba, held at the Havana Convention Center.
“The true strength of the nation lies in its people, its citizens, and the workers who are building a dignified future. In Cuba, this strength is multiplied thanks also to solidarity, and this is a moment for global struggle against selfishness, for resistance, creativity, and dignity.”
The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba commented on the development programs underway, the transformation of the energy matrix, and the aspiration to achieve food sovereignty through the use of science, technology, and innovation.
Given the complex situation the country is experiencing, each measure that must be implemented must first consider who it might affect to avoid inequalities, he explained, adding that this is the approach Cuba defends.
Díaz-Canel argued that Cuba will continue to be a just Caribbean nation, with opportunities and spaces for all, and will continue to offer solidarity, supporting just causes around the world such as the struggle of the Palestinian people, the Bolivarian Revolution, the freedom of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, and the freedom of the Sahrawi people, among others.
“This meeting represents a mobilization of public opinion in circumstances like these, especially given the contribution those present can make in persuading and spreading the truth about Cuba during these fierce times of manipulation and the threat of aggression.”
