Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and President of the Republic, met on Saturday with delegates to the IV Continental Assembly of ALBA Movements, which brought together 190 representatives from 27 countries this week in Havana.
“Thank you for being in Cuba and with Cuba,” the Head of State expressed during the reception this morning at the Palace of the Revolution, where he was accompanied by, among others, Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the PCC, and Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
According to a report from the Presidency on its social media accounts, the delegates expressed their support and solidarity to Díaz-Canel for the Caribbean nation, which is facing the genocidal policies of the United States government.
“When so many in the world are surrendering to Washington’s dictates, to its criminal order to disconnect us from the world, you have chosen to stand with Cuba in its most difficult hour,” the president acknowledged.
Díaz-Canel emphasized the power of solidarity and called for building and strengthening unity “based on our common goals, aware that everything that unites us will always be far greater than what might divide us.”
And, above all, he said, know that even in the worst circumstances, Cuba will continue fighting, will continue resisting, and will continue to triumph; that is our commitment to the enduring legacy of Fidel Castro, the Cuban president added.
The Fourth Continental Assembly of ALBA Movements, which concludes tomorrow, Sunday, was inaugurated this Thursday at the University of Havana, where participants debated global crises and regional sovereignty under the slogan “For Socialism, One Hundred Years Walking with Fidel.”
ALBA Movements is a platform that brings together more than 400 organizations from 25 countries around a project of unity and integration for Our America from an emancipatory perspective, conceived by and for the people.
