Roberto Morales, member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), commemorated on Sunday the 101st anniversary of the founding of the island’s first Communist Party.
“Today is the anniversary of the founding of the first PCC Party, which did so much to sow ideas that resonated with our people, and especially with Fidel (Castro) and Raúl (Castro),” Morales wrote on his social media profile.
The official PCC account also recalled that on August 16, 1925, prominent Cuban patriots such as Carlos Baliño and Julio Antonio Mella founded the First Communist Party of Cuba, an organization that played a significant role in the nation’s political and social struggles.
On the same platform, the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) shared an excerpt from the speech given by the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of that political organization.
“That Party, throughout its 36 years of struggle, left countless martyrs in its wake: during the Machado era, the Batista era, the era of the corrupt governments of Grau and Prío, and in the final stage of Batista’s bloody tyranny,” the revolutionary leader stated at the time.
Fidel Castro also highlighted the trajectory of the organization’s main leaders and members, recalling: “This was the Party of Mella, of Rubén Martínez Villena, of Jesús Menéndez, of José María Pérez, of Paquito Rosales, and of countless other martyrs.”
The commemoration of the anniversary underscores the historical trajectory of the organization founded in 1925 and its influence on the development of revolutionary ideas in Cuba.
