Cuba participates in Caribbean states ministerial meeting

by Ed Newman

Cuba attended the XXXI Ordinary Meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), held this Sunday in Panama City under the pro tempore presidency of Panama, reported the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website, Cubaminrex.

The delegation was headed by Ileana Núñez Mordoche, Director General for Latin America and the Caribbean at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who reaffirmed Cuba’s commitment to supporting the Association’s founding objectives for the sustainable development of the Greater Caribbean.

At the meeting, the Cuban delegation denounced the strengthening of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States government, exacerbated by the energy embargo, which directly affects Cuban families and limits the right to development.

During the session, the pro tempore presidency of the ACS was transferred to Nicaragua, which will hold this responsibility during the 2026-2027 period.
