Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez has reaffirmed the island’s commitment to promoting and developing cooperation among countries of the Global South.
This collaboration, he added, is the path to building a new, more just, equitable, and democratic international economic order.
“When the United States government seeks to sever all ties, institutions and cooperation among nations of the Global South to realize its imperialist ambitions of domination, unity, collaboration and cooperation among our countries are urgently needed.”
Bruno Rodríguez noted that September 12th is the United Nations Day for South-South Cooperation — a date established as part of the G77-China Summit held in Havana in September 2023. According to the United Nations, this day commemorates the growing levels of solidarity, collaboration and exchange of practical solutions among countries of the Global South.
Throughout the Global South, nations are increasingly sharing solutions in areas such as renewable energy, digital innovation, public health, sustainable agriculture, disaster preparedness, education and public services.
These exchanges help countries adapt successful approaches to their own needs and accelerate progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals.
