by Ed Newman

With the participation of Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, the parade for International Workers’ Day began in the early morning hours of Friday in Revolution Square in Havana.

The date is commemorated with demonstrations throughout the country and with the presence of the highest authorities of the nation. As is tradition, the island’s workers, along with their families and the general public, will lead the day’s events.

Workers in Havana, organized into 15 unions, responded to the call for mobilization, a parade, and a rally.
