As every year in recent times, Cuba celebrates today a day to reaffirm the values and essence of the history of the Revolution, during the commemoration of International Workers’ Day.
This is the general message of the Cuban Workers’ Federation (CTC) in its call to commemorate this event in the streets and squares of the country, under the central slogan “The Homeland is Defended.”
This May 1st, the date is marked by a context that highlights the urgent need to revitalize the internal economic dynamic and the necessity to demonstrate cohesion, unity, and civic and popular will to defend a model that, according to local authorities, continues to be a benchmark in the region.
A clear example of this is the arrival in the Cuban capital of prominent figures, representatives of progressive movements, and members of various trade organizations from several countries, who are participating in solidarity actions with the Cuban government and people.
The International Workers’ Day celebrations, as is tradition, extends beyond Havana, with events taking place in every locality to commemorate the date and recognize outstanding workers and work collectives.
In Havana, the epicenter of the celebration, thousands of Cubans gather in front of the U.S. Embassy at the José Martí Anti-Imperialist Tribune, arriving from various points in the city in marches starting at 6:00 a.m. local time.
For the CTC (Central Organization of Cuban Workers), the Cuban Revolution is a living process, and in its narrative of struggle and resilience, this day is an ideal opportunity for workers to demonstrate their support and their willingness to defend it against any threat, especially the hostility of the current U.S. administration.
