Cuba’s Deputy Foreign Minister Carlos Fernandez de Cossío has denounced the hostile and hypocritical policy of the United States and questioned that country’s classification of the island as a threat.
The official noted that Washington possesses nuclear weapons and the expertise to employ them, but accuses Cuba of representing a danger to its national security.
On Facebook, Fernández de Cossío recalled that the United States maintains military bases and operations in almost every hemisphere and other regions of the world, while intimidating its own people with the alleged Cuban threat.
He claimed that the U.S. government had promoted coups, political assassinations, acts of terrorism, political and economic subversion and interference in the internal affairs of numerous countries, but insisted on declaring Cuba a threat.
He stressed that the United States has participated in more wars of aggression than any other state in modern history, with elevated figures of death and destruction, and yet accuses Cuba of being a danger.
The deputy foreign minister reiterated that Cuba is a country of peace, does not threaten or aggress or interfere in the internal affairs of other nations, and stressed that its foreign policy is based on cooperation and solidarity.
The international community recognizes that trajectory and the American people could understand it calmly and reassuringly, if their government were not constantly deceiving and terrorizing them, Fernández de Cossío stressed in his digital publication
