Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and President of the Republic, is attending the opening of the 24th International Meeting of Communist and Workers’ Parties (IMPOC) here in Havana.
The event is being held on the eve of the main commemorations for the centennial of the birth of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, and to demonstrate the solidarity of the members of this platform for the articulation of the global progressive left.
Solidarity with Cuba and condemnation of the escalating aggression by the United States government against the archipelago will be the central themes of the EIPCO meeting, which will continue until Saturday.
Accompanying the Cuban president are members of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC): Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee, and Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs, along with other leaders of the political organization, department heads, and representatives of labor, social, and youth organizations.
