The conviction that supporting Cuba means wanting a planet where peace and justice reign was reaffirmed on Wednesday by participants in the forum “Anti-Imperialist Tribune: Solidarity Is Not Blocked” of the 1st International Colloquium Fidel: Legacy and Future.
With the presence of Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (CCPCC) and President of the Republic, the plenary hall of the Havana Convention Center became the epicenter of solidarity.
U.S. activist Gloria La Riva, coordinator of the Hatuey Project, stated that the essence of this organization is to help Cuba in every way possible and emphasized that in the current circumstances, efforts must be redoubled to confront, together with Cuba, all the attacks launched by imperialism.
She stressed that at a time when the intensification of the blockade is attempting to halt aid to the Caribbean nation, it is imperative that the world resist hegemonic plans and raise the banners of solidarity and socialism, as Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz always did.
Nguyen Viet Tao, vice president of the Cuba-Vietnam Friendship Association, declared that Washington’s policy toward the island is the genocide of the 21st century, whose fascist principles attempt to undermine human dignity.
He called on the Cuban people never to surrender to the strong onslaughts of the White House and urged nations to fight for Cuba, because its cause is everyone’s cause.
Zoan Tanis Dávila Roldan, from the Juan Rius Rivera Brigade of Puerto Rico and a member of the Feminist Collective in Construction, emphasized that she and her comrades came to Cuba defying the interests of the U.S. government and with the conviction that what they are doing against Cuba is a brutal war.
She stated that those who design the constant imperialist measures against the Cuban nation know very well what they are doing, and their intention is to strangle a dignified people who rise up every day to fight despite daily difficulties.
Friends from Europe, Africa, Asia and Latin America raised their voices against imperialism and any action that threatens the sovereignty of nations, while also remembering Fidel as the light that illuminated the path to peace.
Noemí Rabasa Fernández, First Vice President of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, affirmed that, in accordance with the teachings of the Commander-in-Chief, Cuba will not abandon its humanist principles and commitment to social justice.
She also expressed her gratitude for the presence of so many friends who, in recent days, have not only demonstrated their support for the country but have also reflected on the extensive work of the historical leader of the Revolution.
The event called for continued solidarity actions during the 30th Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government to be held in Madrid this coming November, as well as in other international forums.
Among those present at the meeting were members of the Political Bureau: Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of Communist Parties of Cuba (CCPCC); Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs; and Teresa Amarelle Boué, Secretary General of the Federation of Cuban Women.
Other leaders from the Party, the State, the Government and mass organizations also attended.
