Havana, May 28 (RHC) – Leones de Industriales secured their third consecutive victory today against the last-place Cocodrilos de Matanzas, and consolidated their position at the top of the IV Elite League of Cuban Baseball, which began its sixth individual subseries.

Visiting Victoria de Girón Stadium, Guillermo Carmona’s azules took an early lead with a four-run rally in the second inning, three of them driven in by a three-run homer from young second baseman Carlos Nieto off a pitch from the starting pitcher, Shaiel Cruz, who took the loss.

The win went to Villa Clara native Alain Sánchez, making his debut with the Lions. In 5.0 innings, he struck out three and allowed two runs, driven in by a home run from Andrys Pérez.
The Havana reliever Jordan Williams dominated two scoreless innings before rain arrived in the eighth inning, forcing the game to be called off.
In the other game of the day, the Cachorros de Holguín continued their home run barrage, defeating the Huracanes de Mayabeque 8-4 at Nelson Fernández Park.
The four home runs were hit by Andry Agüero, Luis Vicente Mateo, Michael Gorguet, and the eleventh of the season by slugger Yasiel González, who also reached 29 RBIs, solidifying his lead in both offensive categories.
