Roberto Morales Ojeda denounces U.S. intention to take over Cuba

by Ed Newman

Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, denounced on his Facebook profile that the United States’ policy toward the island aims for total domination and subjugation.

“It is nothing other than taking over Cuba,” stated Morales Ojeda, recalling that in the past every decision had to be consulted with the US ambassador in Havana, who imposed criteria based on Washington’s interests.

The Cuban leader pointed out that the revolutionary government’s adoption of sovereign decisions receives only contempt, sanctions and fallacious arguments in response from imperialism.

Morales Ojeda emphasized that, even though Cuba maintains its intention to engage in dialogue based on mutual respect and poses no threat to a powerful nation, the US reaction is always the same: to seize the island or impose a compliant government.

“Otherwise, to suffocate an entire people, to provoke despair, hardship, scarcity, and loss of life, using such weapons for political ends, something already defined by the UN as genocide.”

These statements come amidst bilateral tensions and the strengthening of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by Washington for more than six decades, exacerbated by the energy embargo and other punitive measures against the island.
