The Secretary General of Caritas Internationalis, Alistair Dutton, expressed his solidarity with the Cuban people on Friday at a meeting with the Cuban Ambassador to the Holy See, Leyde RodrÃguez.
During the exchange at the Cuban diplomatic mission, RodrÃguez thanked the high-ranking Scottish official for his words of support for the Caribbean island, which has been severely impacted by the intensified U.S. blockade and its latest energy embargo measures.
The Cuban representative shared updated information with the visitor on the impacts of Washington’s policy on various economic and social sectors, which constitute a collective punishment, he emphasized.
During the conversation, Dutton explained that Caritas Internationalis brings together 162 organizations in more than 200 countries and territories, each responding to its local context while also forming part of a network that provides emergency aid, supports long-term development, and advocates for justice and peace.
Also participating in the meeting were VÃctor Genina, Director of Integral Human Development at Caritas Internationalis, and Carlos Rosario Grasso, First Secretary of the Cuban Embassy to the Holy See.
