Havana, June 12 (RHC) – The Cuban team lost 3-0 to Ukraine today in their second appearance in the first week of the Men’s Volleyball Nations League.
The Europeans dominated the match with sets of 25-21, 25-20, and 25-16 to improve their record (2-1), while the team coached by Cuban Jesús Cruz suffered their second consecutive defeat.
Kovalov (11 points) and Yanchuk (10) led the Ukrainian attack, who displayed greater control at the net, blocking nine balls to the Cubans’ four.
The Cuban team’s best individual performers were González (14) and Cárdenas (9), while collectively they committed nine more unforced errors than their opponents (24-15).
This Friday, Poland (1-0), who also defeated Cuba, will face Japan (0-1) in this Asian city.
In Ottawa, Canada, the United States will play Germany, and in Brasilia, which hosted the other bracket of the first week, Serbia will face Belgium and Argentina will play Iran.
