Canada Achieved a Historic First Point in World Cup Football

by Javier Perez Jimenez

Havana, June 12 (RHC) – Amid an atmosphere of total euphoria in the streets of Toronto and Vancouver, the national team achieved a milestone that had eluded generations: the first point in its history in the competition.

Before a crowd that filled every corner of the stadium with red, the team led by a new generation of stars like Alphonso Davies and Jonathan David proved that the Maple Leaf is no longer just a passing attraction.

With a courageous and disciplined performance, the home side secured a draw that felt like a victory, erasing a record of six defeats in six World Cup appearances (1986 and 2022).

In the other match of the day, Korea Republic defeated Czech Republic in a vibrant and tense game.

The South Korean team knew how to manage the times on the game and scored to early goals that make things difficult for the Europeans. However, the Czechs did not surrender and on the final minutes threaten the Korean goal, but the efforts were not enough and the match finished with a 2-1 score.
