Havana, Jun 15 (RHC) - The participation of Liadagmis Povea and Aslín Quiala marked today the best of Cuba in the final of the Spanish Club Athletics Championship, among women, held in Soria.
Povea only needed a mark of 14.16 meters, somewhat discreet for what she usually records, to win in the triple jump ahead of María González (13.54) and Ana Estrella de León (13.48).
This was the third international outdoor event of the season for Yoelbi Quesada's student. At the Diamond League stops in Rome and Olso she took fourth place with 14.17 and 14.31 meters, respectively.
In the pole vault, Aslin's victory was recorded with 4.36 meters, her best performance of the current season. She failed in her three attempts over 4.42 meters, when she was trying for a personal record and had already secured the title because her closest rival, Monica Clemente, had reached 4.16 meters.
Dayli Cooper was another of the Cubans present on Sunday. She ran the 800 meters in 2:01.57 minutes, slightly lower than the 2:01.63 with which she dominated in the Molina Memorial, in Havana.
Ahead of Cooper came Naomi Jerop Korir (2:01.45) and Valme Prado Durán came in third.
