Havana, May 18 (RHC) -- The confidence of the Revolution's top leadership in the role of farmers for the country's development was reaffirmed this Saturday by Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, during the closing of the 13th Congress of the National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP).

In the closing remarks of the event, the president conveyed a message of congratulations on the celebration of Cuban Farmer's Day this May 17th and on the analysis resulting from the meeting, which he described as excellent and helpful in devising solutions to address the current circumstances.

At the ANAP meeting, Díaz-Canel highlighted the enshrinement of the revolutionary principle that land belongs to those who work it, a legacy expressed in more than 400,000 members grouped into more than 3,000 cooperatives across the nation.

These figures reflect the sector's main strength, with its steadfast resilience in the face of adversity of all kinds and its ability to rise to the responsibility of producing approximately 70 percent of the food that reaches Cubans' tables, he noted.

The head of state noted that current challenges demand that we be more creative, organized, and disciplined than ever in the urgent task of producing more, being more efficient, and caring for every hectare as a treasure where we can redouble our efforts to fulfill our commitments, and that cooperatives become beacons of results and commitment.

Unproductive or misused land contravenes the interests of the nation; productivity is an act of love for the homeland and a revolutionary task, he added.

Likewise, the First Secretary outlined clear commitments from the Party and the Government regarding contracting, state linkage, and support for the mobilization and fair distribution of inputs and resources, as well as support for producers so they can respond efficiently.

We can proudly say that ANAP continues to be an essential pillar in building a solid economy at the service of the people and founded on unity, love for the land, and commitment to the Revolution.

The meeting, attended by nearly 400 delegates from across the country, provided a critical analysis of the results and challenges identified by the organization during the period, as well as the main tasks to be carried out.

The debates in the working committees addressed other priorities related to combating crime and illegal activities, completing the cadre policy, and political-ideological work, among other issues included in the work objectives and discussed in the organizational process prior to the event.

The president was accompanied by members of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Manuel Marrero Cruz, Prime Minister of the Republic; Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization; Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento, Secretary General of the Cuban Workers' Federation (CTC); and Teresa Amarelle Boue, Secretary General of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC).

Also present in a special capacity were José Ramón Machado Ventura, Commander of the Rebel Army, as well as Félix Duartes Ortega, member of the Council of State and national president of ANAP, among other leaders and guests.
