Rio de Janeiro, February 18 (RHC) -- Brazil will become the world's largest soybean producer in 2014, Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff announced on Monday.

According to Brazil's National Supply Company Conab, the total grain yield will reach 193 million tons this year, of which 90 million tons will be soybeans, outnumbering the soybean output of the United States that is currently the largest producer.

Soybeans will remain Brazil's largest crop, with its share in the total grain production rising from 43 percent to 47 percent, Conab experts have forecast.

Rousseff stated that Brazil has committed to boost its agricultural productivity as its grain production increased by more than two-fold in the past two decades, while the arable land grew only by 41 percent during the same period.
