Havana, March 12 (RHC)-- Cuba and Bolivia are considering a short-term boost of their bilateral trade of goods and services, said Cuba's first deputy foreign trade minister Ileana Nuñez.

The issue was addressed during a meeting between official delegations from both countries in the Bolivian capital, aimed at identifying ways to boost bilateral economic exchange. The Cuban delegation was presided over by deputy foreign trade minister Nuñez and Bolivian Foreign Minister Fernando Huanacuni.

The Cuban official said both sides are working on a financial mechanism to guarantee safe payments in both directions and also revising logistic issues to boost the trade of goods as compensation.

The setting up of the bilateral Cuba-Bolivia working team came on the heels of talks in May 2017 between Cuba's first vice-president Miguel Diaz-Canel and Bolivia's President Evo Morales.

On that occasion, the two sides agreed to boost economic and trade links in tune with the high level of bilateral political relations.
