Havana, April 12, (RHC), – The Cuban program of anti-vectorial struggle to control malaria and other diseases transmitted by mosquitoes, rats and mice continues with successful results in 18 Angolan provinces, the Cuban coordinator of the program said Friday.

“A marked reduction of mosquito populations has been confirmed, due to the outstanding work of 145 Cuban specialists and 1,600 Angolan volunteers in 130 municipalities of the country, with some 20 million inhabitants,” said the coordinator of the national plan, Yoenys Hidalgo.

He pointed out that the project, which began on January 23, 2009, is developed in close coordination with the Angolan Health Ministry and the National Program against Malaria.
