Algiers, May 29 (RHC) – Cuba considers that the objectives and principles of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) are fully valid to face the current international scenario, said Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Abelardo Moreno in Algiers.

Despite the complex international scenario, the movement has maintained active in major multilateral forums and in current international processes, said the official speaking at NAM’s 17th Ministerial Conference.

Moreno said that the results achieved are not yet enough, and went on to say that this is due in part to the fact that non-aligned countries continue to be denied their right to self-determination, peace and development, fair treatment and full independence.

“Today, 41 years later, the big industrialized nations, headed by the United States, continue to violate the security of many non-aligned nations,” said Moreno.

These new concepts, such as the so-called regime change, humanitarian intervention, preventive intervention and the responsibility of protection are used for direct or indirect aggressions against non-aligned nations, the official noted.
