Havana, June 14, (RHC), -- Cuban authorities reported the identification of 11 people who were preparing a, presumably illegal, departure from the island with support from abroad, in which four citizens were murdered.

They met on June 7 in a site named El Yunque, in the locality of Playa Baracoa, in the Bauta municipality, western Artemisa province, a press release by the Interior Ministry explained.

Four of the people involved in the plan were taken individually to the farm called Nina Bonita on a tricycle by 43-year-old Orlando Gutierrez Padilla, a local resident.

Three of the men were murdered and their bodies were hidden. They were named as Yariel Valdes Rodriguez, 26; Luis Adrian Gonzalez, 34; and Juan Antonio Breuil, 25. They resided in the Havana municipalities of Boyeros, Playa and Arroyo Naranjo respectively.

A fourth man named Luis Rodriguez Leon, 25, managed to escape after having been attacked and seriously wounded, and was later arrested, the press release pointed out.

Another dead body found was that of the bike driver, Gutierrez Padilla. All four corpses were buried on June 12.

Cuban authorities said an investigation is underway, focusing on a group of arrested people in order to identify the criminals and determine the causes that led to such regrettable events.
