During their participation in the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Cuban Foreign Minister, and Rahul Gandhi, leader of the Indian National Congress, discussed the historic relations between the two countries and the progress made in various economic, trade, cooperation, and investment sectors.
The meeting with the Indian leader was part of the Cuban Foreign Minister’s busy diplomatic agenda in New Delhi this week, which included a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, where he reaffirmed Cuba’s commitment to continue strengthening bilateral ties in various sectors.
Through his official account on the social media platform X, Bruno Rodríguez highlighted the events of these meetings and also expressed his gratitude to Cuba’s friends in India for the solidarity shown toward the Caribbean nation.
“It was moving to participate in the event they organized in New Delhi, a further demonstration of support for the Cuban people in the face of threats of aggression, the intensification of the blockade, and the energy embargo imposed by the United States government,” he wrote, adding, “Those who seek to isolate and suffocate us are mistaken.”
During the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, Bruno Rodríguez denounced that Cuba is under the threat of direct military aggression from the United States and is suffering the effects of a brutal blockade on fuel supplies, describing this situation as a growing threat to international peace and security.
The Cuban foreign minister urged the promotion of a genuine democratization of the United Nations and praised the role of the BRICS as an alternative to the ossified and unjust international economic order.
