Cuban-American doctor calls for end to U.S. blockade of Cuba in front of White House

by Ed Newman

A Cuban-American doctor has done it again. In front of the White House lawn in the United States, he raised a large banner demanding Cuba’s removal from the list of state sponsors of terrorism and an end to the embargo that the U.S. government has intensified against the small Caribbean nation.

“Why say that Cuba is a failed state and a state sponsor of terrorism? It’s not fair. Cuba is not a threat; the U.S. embargo is a threat to the Cuban people,” said Dr. Carlos Tamayo of the Felix Varela Cuban Emigrant Club, based in the United States.

Supporting Cuba today is not only an act of solidarity but also a fight against a genocide that is devastating a country to which the United States prohibits oil shipments and the sale of essential medical supplies.

“As long as the embargo exists, solidarity will exist. Long live Cuba!” declared the activist, who in 2025 was also protesting at the White House, exposing the fallacies of the U.S. government to the world.

Thousands of people around the world understand the courage and dedication of those who, in a sublime act of respect for international law, support Cuba’s right to remain independent and sovereign. The United States attempts to subdue the Cuban people with a blockade that intensifies every year.
